About the event

The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) has recently published a new research review, presenting their updated position statement on resistance training. As the foremost global authority on exercise, the ACSM's guidelines serve as a foundation for many other institutions worldwide. The last update from the ACSM was in 2009, and since then a significant amount of research has emerged. However, this influx of information is not always being use to enhance effective practice, often due to its dissemination on social media. More and more research is being cherry picked to push individual agendas, often influenced by financial motivations and not always in the interest of the public. This new guidance therefore which reviews 137 reviews, encompassing 1000's of studies is a much welcomed update, helping to clarify much of the recent misinformation.
